Prime Power vs. Stand-by
Industrial diesel generators can be confirgured for Prime or Stand-by Power. The term Prime Power means that the generator will be the primary source of electrical power and there is no utility power present. Stand-by power means that the generator will only be used when utility power fails. Generators configured for Prime Output produce 10% less electricity.
